Hello Everyone
We're so excited to be part of NSSLHA and can't wait to start planning COMD events for the upcoming school year!
Here are a few of our favorite inspiring films to get us back-to-school ready:
Chronicles the journey of the Isaacson family as they travel through Mongolia in search of a mysterious shaman who they believe can heal their autistic son. This film delves into the strange world of autism, horses, shamanism, and Mongolia while telling the story of a family that will go to the end of the earth to find a way into their son's life- recommended by Bozena Barton, NSSLHA Secretary
A biopic of Temple Grandin, an autistic woman who has become one of the top scientists in the humane livestock handling industry- recommended by Joy Lee, NSSLHA Vice-President
The true story of Elle editor Jean-Dominique Bauby who suffers a stroke and has to live with an almost totally paralyzed body; only his left eye isn't paralyzed- recommended by Katherine Lin, NSSLHA Undergraduate Representative
We look forward to seeing all of you in 2013!

Join the NSSHLA team!-WALK NOW FOR AUTISM-April 21st
Happy New Year from the NSSHLA board for 2012!
We hope this year brings nothing but happiness and opportunities to showcase how wonderful you all are! On that note, we have the first opportunity available for you :)
It's a well known fact that autism has become increasingly prevalent in America. The numbers show that 1 in every 110 children in America is identified with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum ( US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). With a variety of characteristics that include difficulties in social interaction, communication impairments and atypical behaviors that unintentionally exclude children from their peers, we need to do our part to help those exceptional individuals with autism.
So let's show our support for the services that assist children/adults with autism, the families that work hard to give the best quality of life possible, and most importantly, for the children who have autism themselves.
Join the NSSLHA team and take part in the Walk for Autism on Saturday, April 21, 2012. This awesome event will be taking place at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

By the way, we realize it's a little early. We just want to give you the chance to save the date! Looking forward to seeing everyone there! :)
